ECDL

The European Computer Driving Licence is a fundamental qualification in IT skills. The ECDL is internationally recognised and is open to anyone regardless of age, previous experience or employment background. In the UK the awarding body for the ECDL is the British Computer Society (BCS).

The ECDL is divided up into 7 modules, a candidate must pass a short exam for each module in order to gain the qualification.

    Basic Concepts of information Technology
    Using the Computer and Managing Files
    Word Processing
    Spreadsheets
    Databases
    Presentations
    Information and Communication

Individuals may register as candidates for the ECDL at registered test centres, once registered the candidate will receive a log book. When a test is taken and passed, the test is signed off in the candidates log book by a member of staff at the test centre. Candidates may complete the tests in any order they wish.

ADC is a registered ECDL test centre and has been heavily involved with the ECDL ever since it was launched in the UK, back in May 1998. ADC are able to offer a wide range of study solutions for the ECDL including CBT materials and the Blackrock ECDL manual. In addition to study materials ADC can also offer computer based automated testing, allowing the learner to know immediately whether they have passed or failed an exam.
