New CLAIT

The CLAIT Suite from OCR stems from the previous RSA CLAIT programme and provides practical IT skills for everyone. The CLAIT suite consits of 3 qualifications from introductory to advanced levels with a direct route for progression.

New CLAIT is the OCR qualification for IT users at level 1and is designed for beginners in IT with no previous experience. It enables learners to build on their confidence as well as gain new, practical skills and a recognised qualification in IT.

New CLAIT consists of 1 core unit and 13 optional units. In order to achieve the New CLAIT qualification, candidates must pass the core unit and 4 optional units from the available 13. The optional units include units from other programmes such as the Internet Core Computing Certification (IC3) qualification and the BBC Webwise Programme.

The Units available for New CLAIT are shown below:

  • Word Processing
  • Electronic Communication
  • Spreadsheets
  • Databases
  • Desktop Publishing
  • Graphs and Charts
  • Computer Art
  • Web Pages
  • Presentation Graphics
  • BBC Becoming WebWise
  • Computing Fundamentals (IC³)
  • Key Applications (IC³)
  • Living Online (IC³)

Units with overlapping content may not be used individually as optional units in order to gain the New CLAIT qualification, for example a learner cannot undertake BBC Becoming WebWise and Living Online and use them individually as part of the total 4 optional units.
